Dear ISACA Members:
Although I have only been in the position as your international president since July of 2009, we have experienced a whirlwind of activity. ISACA and its members continue to face challenges amidst the global economic downturn and other disruptions worldwide. I feel safe in saying that all of us have been touched by hardship, whether personally or through a relative, friend or colleague.
Although these are trying times, ISACA continues to offer valuable services that support an excellent investment in your professional future. ISACA, through its more than 86,000 constituents, offers an unequalled opportunity for networking, sharing best practices and continual learning.
As part of ISACA’s many activities in 2009, the board of directors introduced a new strategy that focuses on building more opportunities for member/volunteer involvement. ISACA is committed to helping members achieve individual and organizational success, resulting in greater trust in, and value from, information systems.
One of the many ways ISACA supports its members is through a variety of resources and practical tools that are made available only to members. ISACA stands firm in its commitment to members and their enterprises.
For example, only members can:
- Access the ISACA eLibrary to search and browse more than 350 books from ISACA and third-party publishers in a new online collection specifically customized for ISACA members. It is accessible at www.isaca.org/elibrary.
- Obtain timely solutions through e-learning’s free online courses, e-symposia and webcasts, which can be found at www.isaca.org/elearning.
- Download free research publications and resources that provide tools for implementing COBIT, Val IT and Risk IT, located at www.isaca.org/downloads.
In addition, members who hold one of our globally respected certifications—Certified Information Systems Auditor™ (CISA®), Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM®), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT® (CGEIT®) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control™ (CRISC™) designations—can earn more than 60 hours of free continuing professional education.
In 2010, we urge you to become more involved in your local chapter activities. Many professionals who are involved find that they gain so much more than the time they give through increased professional connections and shared experiences. If you are already involved in ISACA projects, we encourage you to look into volunteer opportunities available through ISACA at the international level. This can truly be a year of increased networking, sharing best practices, and continual learning.
We have developed some tools that will help you show your employer that ISACA is a vital resource for helping them gain greater trust in, and value from, their information systems. With your involvement, your ISACA membership can help you achieve success in your career and in your organization.
Sincerely,

Emil D'Angelo
